How expensive is ISS?

It's hard to say, because it's not always clear which costs should be included and which shouldn't. Estimates for the total costs of ISS over a period of 30 years range from 35 to 100 billion dollars.

It's worth noting, I think, that the US military budget exceeds $500 billion per year. When put in context, space exploration seems horribly under-funded, considering how important it is to the future of our species.

Why spend that amount of money out the Earth??... because that's science for Christ's sake! and that's the reason why you people can now use a computer, an air condition, GPS, and even hot coffee! Because Science looks for answers so the rest of the people can use such answers to solve human problems or make life easier. Never question the amount of money we use to answer a single (an perhaps simple) question. Knowledge is priceless.

I understand the need for exploration and discovery, but that amount of money is just insane with all the starving people in the world. Why is it important to discover how people do in space when we need to worry about how they are doing here on our own world.
